First coal from the AUD 1 billion opencast mine is expected in 2022. The first stage has an expected production rate of 4.5 Mtpa of met coal. Subsequent expansion could increase production to 15 Mtpa.

Adani still plans to dig the biggest coal mine in Australia, extracting up to 60 million tonnes of coal a year for 90 years, and creating 4.6 billion tonnes of carbon pollution.
